As a broker here at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Treasure I wanted to talk with you about investing in coastal real estate and how important it is to understand what you are purchasing when it comes to the coast of Eastern North Carolina.

There's a lot that you need to know. Let's talk about why this is so important. Purchasing a home is the largest investment you will make in your future. You need to ensure you know what you are buying and what it means to you.

Some key topics to consider when it comes to coastal investing is knowing what flood zone you're in. Are you in a federal flood? Are you in a cobra zone? Within that zone, what are you rated?

Are you an AE? Are you a VE? Are you an X? These all are significant factors as it relates to how much your flood insurance will cost. And this is why I feel it's critical you select a real estate agent who specializes along the coastline and barrier islands like Topsail Island, Wrightsville Beach, Figure Eight Island and Carolina Beach.
